Beautiful bold and heavy pendant necklace from Srinagar Kashmir. It has marked a 925 for sterling silver on the clasp but I don't think the pendant itself is sterling silver. The stones are Red Carnelians beads of a type usually called as Sard Chalcedony and the accents in the pendant are, according to the seller red garnet. The quality of this necklace is truly impressive and far from more common boho gypsy jewelry. This was a wedding necklace probably from turkoman tribes in north of Afghanistan although i know pieces similar in style and craftsmanship from West Nepal. Not too old, maybe from the early 1990s. I believe this is ethnic jewelry at its best. Great piece!
